Google Calendar

Optional, per person, and worth about two minutes. Each stylist connects their own — nobody can connect it for them.

What it does, both ways

  • Out: every booking of theirs appears in their own Google Calendar, with the customer's name and the service, and moves or disappears when the booking does. On their phone, without opening this.
  • In: anything marked busy in that calendar blocks those times here. A dentist appointment they put in their own phone stops a customer booking over it.
The diary is the truth and the calendar is a copy of it. A sync that fails, lags or disagrees is logged and retried; it never blocks a booking, never changes one and never deletes one.

Connecting it

  1. Open Calendar in the console

Calendar in the sidebar. Every role has it — it is the one screen that belongs to the person looking at it rather than to the salon.

  2. Connect Google Calendar

You are sent to Google, sign in with the account whose calendar you actually use, and allow access. Then you are back here and it says connected.

  3. Check it once

Open your calendar and look for today's bookings. They usually appear within half a minute.

What Google is asked for

Two things only: permission to manage calendar events, and your email address so the screen can say which account is connected. Not your contacts, not your other Google data, not your files.

The permission is stored encrypted, and it is only ever used for the events this system created plus reading when you are busy. Nothing in your calendar that we did not put there is ever changed or deleted.

Disconnecting

Calendar → Disconnect, at any time, without asking anybody. Bookings stop being copied out and your own commitments stop blocking time here. Events already in your calendar stay where they are — they are yours.

You can also revoke it from your Google account's own security settings. If you do, this screen will say the connection has stopped working the next time it tries, rather than pretending it is fine.

When it stops working

  • It says disconnected and you did not disconnect it — Google has withdrawn the permission, usually because the password changed or it was revoked in the account settings. Connect it again; nothing else is affected.
  • Events are missing — check you connected the account whose calendar you are looking at. Two Google accounts on one phone is the commonest cause by a distance.
  • Times are blocked that should not be — something in your own calendar is marked busy. Mark it free there, or use a different calendar for personal things.
